This Yuzu Hot Sauce always has a place in my kitchen because I use it in so many dishes and recipes.

I was inspired by Trader Joe’s Yuzu Kosho Hot Sauce to create this Yuzu Hot Sauce Recipe. I often used this sauce on Asian dishes like Salmon Tempura and Baked Scallop Roll, among others. However, I realized that this type of citrusy sauce can enhance a variety of other meals, not just Asian dishes. Having this kind of zesty sauce at home has been something I’ve wanted for a long time.

This isn’t the first time I’ve created a recipe using yuzu. I previously made and shared a Yuzu Smoothie, which many people loved.

For those wondering where to find yuzu, I usually get it at an Asian grocery store near my town. So, Look for a local Asian grocery, as yuzu is a popular fruit in Asian cuisine and they are likely to have it.

What is Yuzu Hot Sauce?

Yuzu Hot Sauce is a flavorful Asian style sauce made from yuzu which is a famous citrus fruit in Japan, combined with rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and chili peppers. You need to make this sauce because it adds a unique citrusy touch to your dishes to make them more tastier. I love it for its bright, refreshing taste that balances the spicy and tangy flavors very well which makes it a necessary sauce in my refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup yuzu juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small chili pepper, finely chopped (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How to Make Yuzu Hot Sauce?

Step 1:

In a pot, pour in yuzu juice, rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and chopped chili pepper. Stir all these ingredients very well.

Step 2:

Put the pot on the stove and turn on the heat. and Keep stirring.

Step 3:

When it bubbles, slowly add the cornstarch mixture while stirring. Cook for 2-3 more minutes until the sauce gets thicker.

Step 4:

Take the pot off the heat and mix in the salt. Let the sauce cool down.

Step 5:

After, Put the cooled sauce into a clean bottle and Enjoy.
