Fill a glass to the brim with ice cubes. In a cocktail shaker, combine the measured amounts of tequila, pineapple juice, and orange juice. Secure the lid tightly and shake for about 15-20 seconds.

Carefully pour the mixed base over the ice in your prepared glass. To create the signature sunrise effect, slowly pour the grenadine down the side of the glass. Alternatively, you can use the back of a spoon to gently layer the grenadine if you want to.
